PROGRAMS WE OFFER

EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

We provide private individual therapy for active-duty service members, veterans, and first responders. Participants work with a treatment team made up of a mental health professional, horse expert and a horse.. During the sessions, horses provide military members and their families valuable feedback as they work through past and present challenges involving communication, relationships, problem solving, and self-awareness. Through increasing responsiveness to the needs of self and others and practicing skills related to managing trauma and anxiety, active-duty service members, veterans, and first responders are able to discover new ways to apply the strengths learned in the field to their current situation.

The unique qualities and sensitivities of the horse engage clients experientially so that they can work through their issues and problems while discovering their own solutions. Because horses are prey and herd animals, they are highly attuned to others (both animal and human) and hyper-alert to their environment … similar to those suffering with PTSD. In the sessions, horses mirror the client’s fears, frustrations, stress and relationship problems. With the aid of the treatment team and horses, clients gain critical insights into their own thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. Learning takes place in a way that is emotionally safe leading to lasting change.

FORM UP FRIDAYS

(EQUINE ASSISTED INTERACTIVE LEARNING)

FORM UP FRIDAYS allows Veterans and First Responders to learn and apply skills through Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and is based on the principles of Post-Traumatic Growth. EAL is an experiential approach to learning that leverages the unique qualities of a horse to enhance self-awareness, facilitate emotional regulation, and improve interpersonal relationships. The goal is to facilitate personal growth and develop life skills that enhance relationships in all areas of a participant’s life. Veterans & First Responders who participate in EAL programs experience noticeable improvements in physical, mental, and emotional health.
